FORGING THE NEXT GENERATION OF RAILROAD INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS

Originally founded in 1948, Illinois Tech Model Railroaders' layout grew to occupy the entire attic of the Armour Main Building in Chicago. In 2016, the layout had to be disassembled to vacate the building and the club ceased to operate regularly.

In 2018, we rebuilt the organization to cover both model railroading and career development for students interested in the professional railroad industry. We are chartered as an official Illinois Tech student organization, and are building a model railroad layout in our new space on campus in Alumni Memorial Hall. In addition, as an AREMA student chapter we attend industry conferences, host guest speakers, and travel for site visits to learn about railroading in a hands-on enviroment.
